I definitely found some books particularly difficult to engage into and complete, I don't know whether I will give these a go again in 2017 or whether I will leave them gathering dust on my shelf. This year I made full use of my local libraries and definitely found myself loaning out more books than I was buying them which definitely helped my motivation in completing more books. The two books that definitely come to mind when I think about those I didn't manage to complete are;
Room by Emma Donoghue
Hollow City by Ransom Riggs
I just couldn't enjoy them as much as I had hoped, even with enjoying the first book in the series written by Ransom Riggs. I think I will be definitely giving it another go in the new year as I feel like it has the potential to be a good read. A lot of people agreed with me on Room, I felt like I couldn't grasp the storyline and was just getting bored from what I was reading.
With that in mind tomorrow I will share the first 30 Books I want to read in 2017, let's hope it's a more productive reading year than 2016!
I joined goodreads yesterday so I can keep track of what books I've read and find recommendations. Some of the ones you've read sound interesting, I'll definitely be adding them to my 'to read' list.
ReplyDeleteI also read Girl on the Train and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime last year, I thoroughly enjoyed them both!
If you want more recommendations, I'd say The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul and Never Let Me Go xx
Oh Goodreads is really useful, especially for some book inspiration too! :D Yeah definitely do and let me know what you think too. Ohhh I've heard about The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry so I will definitely add that to my list this year! :)
DeleteI never realised that Scott Pilgrim was a book! I love the movie so I'll have to pick that up :) x
ReplyDeleteSophie Cliff
Oh I didn't either until I saw it in my local library so definitely give it a read! I want to read the rest of the series over summer because they're great quick reads!
DeleteI want to read Harry Potter, I haven't read any of these books!

That's a shame about Room - I found it really interesting. Think I'm gonna have to search for the Emmeline Pankhurst book after you rated it so highly :)
ReplyDeleteI think I could enjoy it but I just didn't, I'll definitely try and reread it again sometime this year! Oh yeah, definitely give it a read it made me proud of being a woman for sure! xx
DeleteYou should try reading Hollow City again, I've just finished the last book and it was alright has a whole trilogy.

Such a great post, my babe. I am sure you will get your reading challenge completed in no time this year! I love books!! I am always on the hunt for a good read and definitely want to take on board your recommendations. I am currently dissolved in one of the neuroscience books (I am a bit of a geek and a little weirdo for enjoying it as much as I do lol).
ReplyDeleteThe Little Book of Hygge is on my list :)

Wonderful list! I've made it a goal to read 20 books this year (hoping to actually read more than that) so I'll have to look into some of the books on this list! Especially Letters to my Fanny, it sounds like it could be an interesting book ha
