Families are invited to experience extraordinary things unfold in front of their eyes at this years' Spark Arts Festival. Taking place across Leicester city centre between 7-13 February, there is an opportunity to enjoy performances from the very best local, national and international artists. Spark Arts Festival is aimed at everyone between 0-13 and their families, making it the perfect diary filler for the upcoming school holidays. 


The Leicester-based festival includes professional performances of dance, theatre and music in schools and venues, hands-on workshops in the creative arts. There is also free family drop-in events and a school programme that gives children the opportunity to collaborate and perform with world-class artists. 

This February, Sparks Art Festival is back with a jam-packed programme with something to suit every young person. Here are some of the highlights of this year's festival:


Meal One is a magical family show filled with music, songs, dance, breathtaking projections and augmented reality surprises. Adapted from a children's book by Ivor Cutler follows Helbert and his mother. They enjoy doing a lot of things together, but their experience with a plum stone gets out of hand. This relaxed performance will take place at Curve 8-9 Feb. Book your tickets for this performance here.



Take your family along to The Y on Sat 12 Feb for the Don Kipper Family Gig. Don Kipper is a funky multi-award winning band that will take you on a musical adventure around Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean. Enjoy a radical fusion of rhythm, harmony and imagination at this special performance suitable for the entire family. 


Enjoy a reimagining of The Ugly Duckling for the young and young at heart.  Enjoy this family-friendly glamour and glitz of a children's show which has been created by cabaret superstar Le Gateau Chocolat. Duckie is set in an animal circus, we join Duckie on an adventure of self-discovery, asking questions of the 'happy ever after' in a celebration of difference.
